Threat to Traditional Real Estate, is it anything for Realtors to worry about?
We’ve been hearing about “the next big thing” that’s going to revolutionize real estate forever for as long as tech companies like Homestoc, Zillow, and Redfin have been around.
It’s mostly been about the Internet in some form or another, and various technological corporations trying to figure out how to make Realtors obsolete.
As a technology company we are here to say to all Realtors out there don’t squander a single second of our life on this foolishness. Why do you worry? Technology is only capable of reproducing tasks in a consistent manner. When was the last time two real estate transactions went exactly the same and according to plan? Never!!
You have nothing to be concerned about if you’re an excellent agent! A highly competent and informed Real Estate agent, one with a human brain and heart who can think through unique and complicated situations and create innovative solutions, will always be in demand. If you’re average (or worse), on the other hand, continue to be concerned. In most markets, “average” implies you completed 5-6 Real Estate deals in the previous year. This figure appears to be very constant across North America.
The fact is that the “technology threat” is genuine if you’re not giving your customers more than “average.” Indeed, if you’re average (or worse), you’re the source of these dangers! The general public is fed up with paying thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars for a service you are grossly unqualified to perform.
Do clients, on the other hand, blink when a highly qualified Realtor tells them how much they charge? Nope. They value the fact that they’ll be guided through a complicated procedure by a highly experienced expert with a track record of producing outstanding outcomes. No robot or the best AI (Artificial Intelligence) will ever be able to replace a good Realtor with local knowledge and excellent people skills.
So, instead of worrying about things you can’t change, concentrate on what you can: by developing your talents and being an irreplaceable Realtor.
